This painting was a bit of an experiment to see how much colour I could get into the scene. I had a short time to paint so I work quickly and freely, exaggerating the colours I observed. This one is 8x8”.        

Here are a collection of phone snaps of paintings I've made outside this summer. Some of these have already sold but the ones that are left I will release as a collection in the next few weeks. You can now buy my 'Winter Swell, Porthtowan' oil painting as a fine art print. The painting was inspired by a scene that struck me whilst running on the coast path between Porthtowan Beach and Chapel Porth in Cornwall. The golden afternoon light was casting a strong shadow beneath the cliff as clean waves rolled in out the back. The spray of the waves was illuminated by the low afternoon sun.
